Creepy text generator
Words that look like they are dripping or sinking off the line. For Halloween captions, creepypasta and horror story titles, and spooky messages.
Controls the density of accent marks stacked above each character.
Controls the density of strikethrough-style marks. These are the marks most likely to render as boxes on old devices — keep this low if you need the text to be widely readable.

At least one letter has more than 5 marks. Discord keeps only the first 5 per letter when you send it, so it will trim this: see our Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp and Slack test.

Where the marks go, and why
The starting setting is 10 above, 0 through and 75 below. Each letter gets exactly 1 mark on top, nothing across it, and 1 to 11 underneath. The weight hangs under the line, so the words seem to sink or drip while the tops of the letters stay clean enough to read.
Leave the through slider alone. Its marks cross the letter and make it look broken rather than wet, which is a different effect. Because every letter gets its own random count, the drip is uneven: some letters trail a long way, others barely at all.
Keeping the drip on Discord
When you send a message, Discord trims every letter to its first five marks (we measured this in November 2026). FontGlitch writes each letter's marks in a fixed order: above, then through, then below. So with the creepy default, Discord keeps the 1 mark on top and the first 4 below, and cuts the rest of the drip.
For a horror server, set the sliders to 0/0/35 instead. That gives 1 to 5 marks, all below the letter, so nothing gets cut. Keep those messages short, because Discord trims long messages harder.
WhatsApp keeps every mark, but chat bubbles don't grow taller, so a long drip hangs over the message below. That can be the point. If it isn't, lower the below slider.
One wrong word beats a wall of it
Creepy text works best against plain text. In a caption or a story title, pick the one word that should feel wrong, type only that word here, copy it, and paste it into your plain sentence. A title that starts normal and goes bad on its last word is more unsettling than one that is dripping from the first letter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make text look like it is dripping?
Put nearly all the weight on the below slider and keep through at 0. At 70 or more, a letter can carry 10 or more marks underneath, which reads as a drip. One or two marks on top keep the letters tidy.
Can I use creepy text in a thumbnail or stream overlay?
Press Download PNG under the tool. It saves a picture of the text, sized to fit the whole drip, on a solid background that follows the site theme (dark or light). For a transparent overlay, remove that background in an image editor.
How is creepy text different from zalgo text?
Only in where the marks sit. Zalgo spreads marks above, through and below the letter; creepy text puts them underneath. For the spread-out version, use the zalgo text generator.
Why do some letters drip more than others?
The engine rolls a fresh count for every letter, anywhere from 1 to 11 marks below at the default. Nudge a slider or edit the text to get a different pattern.
