What the slider numbers mean
Each slider runs from 0 to 100 and sets the most marks one letter can get in its zone: the slider value times 14, divided by 100 and rounded. Every letter then gets a random number of marks between 1 and that maximum, which is why neighbouring letters rarely look alike. At 0 the zone stays empty, and spaces never get marks.
15: 1 or 2 marks. 30: 1 to 4. 45: 1 to 6. 65: 1 to 9. 100: 1 to 14.
This page starts at 45 above, 15 through and 45 below. That puts between 3 and 14 marks on each letter, about 8.5 on average, so a 10-letter word becomes roughly 95 characters once every mark is counted.
What happens to it after you paste
We sent text made at exactly this setting through four chat apps in November 2026. WhatsApp delivered it byte for byte. Slack kept every mark and converted the text to Unicode's standard NFC form, which looks identical. Telegram kept everything except three marks it turns into spaces, and FontGlitch stopped generating those three on 4 November 2026. Discord allowed no more than 5 marks per letter and trimmed long messages further: our 89-character test string arrived as 42. Method and raw data: the four-app zalgo test.
So if Discord is where the text is going, drop to 15/0/15. At that setting no letter carries more than 4 marks.
Pick a style by what you are making
All the generators on this site run the same engine. What changes is the starting setting, and each one is written for a different job:
• A horror post, creepypasta title or Halloween caption: the creepy text generator starts at 10/0/75, so the marks hang below the letters like a drip.
• A nickname, display name or gamer tag: the cursed text generator starts at 20/0/15 and never puts more than 5 marks on a letter.
• A video edit, ARG clue or glitch-art caption: the corrupted text generator starts at 30/45/30, led by strike-through marks that make words look overwritten.
• A thumbnail, title card or app that mangles Unicode: the PNG glitch font generator saves the result as an image instead.
• The classic, maximal look: the zalgo text generator starts heaviest, at 65/25/65.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the same text come out different every time?
For every letter, the generator picks a random number of marks in each zone, up to the slider maximum, and picks which marks at random from that zone. Changing the text or a slider makes a new version, so copy the one you like before you touch anything.
Is a glitch font a real font I can install?
No. There is no font file. The output is your own letters, each followed by Unicode combining marks, so it keeps the effect when you paste it into an app that uses a completely different font.
Which slider makes glitch text hardest to read?
Through. Its marks are strokes, slashes and overlays that cross the letter itself, while marks above and below leave the body of the letter clear. Raise above and below for volume and keep through low if people still need to read the words.
Does glitch text use up a character limit faster?
Yes. Every mark is its own Unicode character, so at 45/15/45 a 10-letter word is roughly 95 characters long. Any field that counts characters sees all of them.
