When an image beats copy-paste text
Pasted glitch text is at the mercy of the app that receives it. Discord keeps only 5 marks per letter, Telegram turns three particular marks into spaces (FontGlitch no longer generates them), and WhatsApp's chat bubbles don't grow, so tall marks spill over other messages (all from our chat app test). In a design or video tool, the result depends on that tool's fonts and text engine.
An image skips all of that. It is pixels, so it looks the same everywhere. What you give up is editing: nobody can select, search or restyle the text later.
What the downloaded PNG looks like
• Text: one line in Space Mono at 48 pixels. Line breaks become spaces, because a browser canvas draws a single line.
• Width: your text plus 48 pixels of padding on each side, at least 320 pixels in total.
• Height: grows to fit the marks. Plain text gives 160 pixels. In our Chromium test with "glitch png", 15/0/15 gave 161 to 185 pixels, 45/15/45 gave 241 to 316, and 100/100/100 gave 357 to 553.
• Background: solid, not transparent. The dark theme gives light text on #111116; the light theme gives near-black text on white. Switch the site theme to switch the image.
• File: glitch-text.png, drawn in your browser and saved straight to your device.
Getting a clean result
The image is drawn at that fixed 48-pixel size, not scaled up for high-density screens, so scale it down in your editor rather than up. Short phrases work best: a long sentence makes a very wide, thin image. If the image comes out taller than you want, lower the above and below sliders.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the colours of the PNG?
Only between the two themes. Dark gives light text on #111116, light gives near-black text on white. For any other colour, recolour the image in an editor.
Why is my glitch PNG so tall?
The canvas grows to fit the highest mark above the line and the lowest mark below it. Lower the above and below sliders for a shorter image. At 15/0/15 it stayed under 186 pixels tall in our test.
Is my text uploaded to make the image?
No. Your browser draws the text on a canvas element and saves the file directly. No server sees it.
Does the PNG have a watermark?
No. There is no watermark, no account and no charge.
